Take out a box of crayons, colored pencils, markers… Whatever you have that has colors. List the colors by closing your eyes and writing down the first feeling that comes and any other thoughts that follow in relation to that color. So, you are basically making a list of colors and their meaning to you. Put that list aside. I recommend keeping it in your art journal, phone or somewhere that you can reference it during artmaking and journaling.

To test it out, try this directive in your journal.

Use whatever colors grab you to make whatever shape, lines or designs you feel. Don’t overthink it. Just go with whatever tought or idea comes next. When you are finished, sit back, and reflect on it and journal whatever comes to you. Don’t judge, don’t critique. It doesn’t have to make sense, but it may resonate with you later. What have you learned about coloring yourself in? It would be amazing if you would post your creation here!

REMEMBER, ARTuition is not about creating an artful masterpiece. If that happens, it should be an accident, not an intention. It’s about using the art to learn more and see what is beyond words that can speak to your soul and enlighten you. There will be more insight that will come to you than is possible to describe in words. Have fun!
